Your chances of getting in are very, very good (if that paper was accepted to a peer-reviewed journal) – and I don’t tell anyone that. Definitely play up the research angle, and hopefully you want to major in the sciences. By very, very good I mean better than 50% – since Harvard only takes about 7% of applicants. You’ll still need a few backup schools, but you’ve have a great shot at getting into one of the top schools for the sciences.
